Working on a new look for CrunchyMunchkin. Feel free to take a look around!

During the MacWorld Keynote Speech, Steve Jobs could not help but tell the truth about Apple TV’s attempt at revolutionizing the way we watch television. It didn’t. Steve did not just put-down the Apple TV, but every product that has tried to do what Apple TV does and failed.

The people who wish to purchase Apple TV or anything of the sort, do not want to have to go to their computer and upload their media to the box like an iPod. They just want to do everything from their living room couch. Further more, the majority of people interested in Apple TV do not understand computers past email and the internet, while some have trouble turning a computer on; expecting them to “sync” Apple TV with their iTunes Account is out of the question!

Apple TV is a home entertainment powerhouse. The revised version appeals to people of all ages, and previous owners because all of the features are just a software update away!

Movies, TV Shows & Music Videos:

The new Apple TV takes full advantage of your HD Television by allowing you to rent movies in full 720p-resolution with Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound (standard-def movies are also available) straight from your couch, bed or wherever you happen to put it. If you have a broadband internet connection, you can play them in literally seconds. You can also purchase the movies and sync them back to your computer.

TV Shows have not been left out of the equation either. Apple TV allows you to purchase commercial-free TV Shows for $1.99, and they automatically sync back-up to your computer.

The same rules apply to your music videos!

YouTube:

If you do not feel like paying for videos from the iTunes  Store, or if you are a YouTube junkie, you can watch as many user generated videos as you’d like. The YouTube Group have been working hard to get all of the videos uploaded and converted for the Apple TV and iPhone format.

Music:

Most people have their best sound system hooked-up to their televisions, and Apple TV allows you to play your music on those beautiful speakers of yours. And again, you can even purchase music from your couch and listen to it instantly for just $0.99 a song – it too syncs with your computer once you purchase it!

Podcasts:

Apple TV even lets you download and listen to user generated Podcasts – like my own… But many people do not realize that there are HD Podcasts available for download right now, even without the HDTV. There are just so many, that you will find something to watch or listen to.

Photos:

Photos are very important to me, and the ability to share them across the internet is great! Apple TV now allows you to watch those photos on your television. This was a feature on the last generation model, but now you can access photos from your flickr or .Mac accounts! When you play them as a slideshow, you can choose the music that plays in the background as well.

Until I can spend some time with the new Apple TV, it will be impossible to do a proper review. I do hope that I have answered any question you might have about the product and as always, if you have any question, please leave a comment…
