Working on a new look for CrunchyMunchkin. Feel free to take a look around!

Today Apple released new MacBooks – consumer based notebook computers. These notebooks have been the most popular option for “Windows Switchers,” because of their price, portability and array of options. The new MacBooks have less options, but only because they now come standard with 2GB of RAM. Also included in the consumer notebook is the latest Intel Core 2 Duo processor – which brings speeds up to 2.6GHz. The update does not stop there! You can now option for a 250GB HDD, which was before only available on the MacBook Pro.

Apple did not see fit to include the infamous multi-touch trackpad that is found on the MacBook Air and New MacBook Pro laptops. Also excluded from the MacBook is the Apple Remote that unleashes the FrontRow software – included on every Mac.

As with the consumer level MacBook, the professional MacBook Pro was also blessed with a hardware update (mostly speed oriented). The new MacBook Pro’s come standard with Intel’s new Core 2 Duo Chipset. These processors have been rumored to be 50% faster & consume much less energy than it’s predecessor. Also included with the computer is the oh so loved multi-touch trackpad that was introduced on the MacBook Air. Keep in mind that, all MacBook Pro’s come standard with LED backlit displays or have it as a $100 upgrade.

There are some things that could have been better on this minor refresh, like the inclusion of a bigger trackpad (like the one on the MacBook Air) and having the Apple Remote included with the computer like previous models.
